Dr. Spear joined ENT and Allergy Associates of Florida in April 2024 after a distinguished career in the U.S. Air Force, retiring at the rank of Colonel. He earned undergraduate degrees from Utah Valley University and Brigham Young University and his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He completed residency training in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Madigan Army Medical Center, followed by advanced fellowship training in Otology and Neurotology.

During his military career, Dr. Spear practiced ENT medicine and surgery at military hospitals around the US, along with England, Germany, Central America and Afghanistan. He held several academic and leadership positions, including serving as core faculty for the San Antonio TX Otolaryngology residency program and as Chief of the Department of Defense Hearing Center of Excellence.

Dr. Spear is board certified in Otolaryngology and Neurotology by the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He is an Associate Professor, has served as an instructor and panelist at national conferences, and has authored or co-authored more than 25 scientific publications.

In addition to his expertise in complex ear, hearing, balance and skull base disorders, Dr. Spear has a special interest in helping patients with common nasal and ear conditions that can significantly affect quality of life, including chronic nasal congestion and obstruction, persistent runny nose and post-nasal drip, and difficulty popping or clearing the ears. When appropriate, he offers convenient, minimally invasive in-office treatment options with minimal downtime, providing individualized care aimed at improving breathing, reducing troublesome nasal drainage, restoring comfortable ear pressure and function, and helping patients return quickly to their normal activities.

  • Nasal congestion and nasal obstruction
  • Chronic rhinitis, runny nose and post-nasal drip
  • Chronic sinusitis and sinus headaches
  • Eustachian tube dysfunction and difficulty popping or clearing the ears
  • Minimally invasive in-office ENT treatments with minimal downtime
  • Tympanic membrane perforations and cholesteatoma
  • Hearing loss, dizziness and balance disorders
  • Cochlear implants, bone-anchored hearing devices and stapes surgery
  • Vestibular schwannoma/acoustic neuroma and other skull base disorders
  • Allergy testing and treatment
  • Hearing aids and hearing amplification devices

Dr. Spear is married with three children. He is also fluent in Portuguese and enjoys playing the bagpipes, banjo, and piano, as well as cycling and scuba diving.

Dr. Spear maintains privileges at Jupiter Medical Center.
