Dr. Richard Heyes completed his undergraduate and medical school education in the United Kingdom, graduating from the University of St Andrews and the University of Manchester. Dr. Heyes subsequently undertook two years of postgraduate training in London, during which time he became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh by examination and obtained the Diploma of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. While in London, Dr. Heyes conducted research collaborating with Mayo Clinic in Arizona which resulted in him being offered a research fellowship in the Head and Neck Regenerative Medicine Laboratory led by Dr. David Lott. The research fellowship included basic science, translational, and clinical research which assisted the lab on its journey to a successful $3.6 million R01 grant submission to the NIH. Dr. Heyes subsequently completed his residency training in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Arizona.
Dr. Heyes is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, the American Rhinological Society, and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is board eligible with the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Heyes’ research has been published in many of the field’s leading journals and he remains engaged in academics as a peer reviewer for Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, the official peer-reviewed publication of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery.
Dr. Heyes is excited to bring advanced surgical techniques from his training at Mayo Clinic to Palm Beach County. These include:
- Surgery for obstructive sleep apnea including hypoglossal nerve stimulator implantation (Inspire®)
- Comprehensive nasal surgery including rhinoplasty and image-guided endoscopic sinus surgery
- Cosmetic and reconstructive facial plastic surgery
- Head and neck surgery for tumors and diseases of the thyroid, parathyroid and salivary glands
- Ear surgery including cochlear implantation for hearing loss in adults
- Pediatric ENT care
- Voice and swallowing disorders
- Allergy testing and treatment
Dr. Heyes practices at Jupiter Medical Center, the Laser and Surgery Center of the Palm Beaches, and Northpoint Surgery Center.
